I tried to save at least the top 5 for the bus tomorrow, but I had no self control. I'm listening to #1 right now.

I'm contemplating doing a top 40 of the 90s next. What about you?

John, stop baiting me with your Facebook clusterfuck.

Frank, that was great. I discovered so many new songs and bands that I instantly liked. One question: where did that sort of electro version of "Chicago" come from? I only know the ones off Illinois and Avalanche.

mkap926 -- don't waste your time. you're lucky if you get a straight answer from these saltinwound fucks. look at the esteemed "collective" list of "contributors" up there sitting on the board. sometimes being a whiny commenter feels like being an Afro-American protesting outside of a Exclusive country club. Good thing those people are actively using the facilities of their 'pshaw' Artistic Collective. Bullshit i say. They are mute, smug, and discrimatory ....

or am i invited to post some of my chitlins and greens, master?

i'm having the similar iTunes glitch for #20-1 as bernie. but streaming it from home yesterday was a blissful winterspring cleaning day. MLK!!!!

John, that's a pretty good argument for Facebook. All day, and I still haven't thought of a comeback.

Dave, I'm willing to take on the 90s, but give me a few months.

Gary (?), I'm sure you could be added as a contributor, but I've heard the real action is on Facebook these days.

Thanks Frank,
I've been active with Facebook for 24 hours now and i already have 13 friends (thankfully they are all people I've hung out with, despite spanning 32 years of camaraderie). It's a bunch of foolishness, nowwheresville, etc. but my first status report was a recent shirtless vid of me+2 in Las Vegas chilling before the recent CES computer conference, i'll post it on my flickr shit site or maybe not.

Dave, I enjoyed your list, at least the bit i dipped into. Could hardly get past the Amazon description of Arcade Fire (Tears For Fears! The Jam!). Sounds like you got a cool life. I've tried to convey my interest regarding WRCT in numerous telephone calls I make to our local college station. They play lots of cool stuff. Tonight they had a symposium on Kierkegaard, nice featured guest, but the regular DJs he talked with were poseurs who jokingly?earnestly discussed the concept of despair. they even ended the show with a Woody Allen quote. today's cultural milieu: Existentialism Lite

John, that is a good argument. Can't wait for the next TV pilot you're involved with. I think "Adulthood in Revolt" might be a good kitschy title/idea. That Cera kid in an Eddie Murphy fat suit would be one heck of a hoot.

my alias is Dick Shame

anyway, the network of eight people in my 40 hour a week community are the most important connections i have right now. and there is a good amount of tension.

I used Facebook to send links to this countdown to Frank-era WRCT staff and listeners, and the three people i've met since who are aware of that world. And Tom Hoffman finally accepted my friend request so in some ways I feel my life is now complete. Well, except for the bitter, crippling loneliness.

I may have to concede defeat in my Facebook stance.

Michael, the version of "Chicago" is the one I have in iTunes - not sure where it came from. It's not in the iTunes store. Weird.

Frank,
I suspect that version of Chicago was on something Elizabeth burned for you. I think I bought some remix album at some point.
