It looks like what would be his Japanese anime character if he had his own cartoon series.

Wait - why do you think this is photoshopped? Clearly the first shot was taken, oh, 15 years after the Beijing shot. He must have been in China for a post-college tour or something.
As a kid I used to listen to Bob Costas on my clock radio doing the broadcasts of the St. Louis Spirits ABA basketball games. The Spirits' colors were orange, brown, and white, I think, and they had many exciting players, such as Maurice Lucas, Marvin Barnes, and Moses Malone. My grandfather bought me that radio, but I never really cared for Bob Costas.

Good job Frank B! he looks so pretty - that nose must be a standard feature in photoshop since it looks like one of Carrie Underwood's.

Chris, thanks for the note! I figured it was an oversight or somesuch. Curiously, that knowledge didn't stop me from stewing over it for days.
I believe ctrl-alt-shift-N calls up the Nasal Style Tool in Photoshop.
Did anyone catch Costas grilling Bush last week when Bush was in Beijing? That was some awkweird TV. In a good way.
They don't call him "dumbya" for nuthin'. The 23% of Americans that give him a nod of approval probably were OK with it.

That bottom photo isn't Bob Costas, it's his wax figure.
